QUOTE (Alchemyst11 @ September 25, 2009 02:31 am)
a warlock means a male witch, so im guessing this guy is an elder. It just occurred to me, if the Witch of Endor is Mars Ultors wife, then maybe Mars is a warlock?

How do you get to be "awakened"or a "sorcerer" in the title thing?

Please do not post twice in a row, use the edit button instead to modify your post.  In answer to your question awakened, humani and sorcerer are all ranks, they change as you post count increases as you post toughts around the board.

Actually, being a warlock has absolutely nothing to do with gender. In fact, the word comes from the old norse 'waerloga' meaning oath-breaker; at least that is the most common usage of that term. There is also another norse term, 'varro-lokkur' which translates to spirit conjurer/sorcerer/whatever other term you may use. The idea of the male witch being referred to as a warlock is in actuality often highly offensive, for it is most often a christianization of the term which was used during the middle ages to prosecute those they thought were practicioners of hereticism. In my opinion, I beleive the warlock will be Machiavelli due to the fact that he is often reffered to as the master of lies, therefore, in theory he could be an oath-breaker. And if that is not the definition by which Mr. Scott is employing, then by all means Machiavelli is still an excellent candidate; for we know for certain that he has learned scores of different types of magic through which to eradicate Perenelle. However this is all mere opinion. My infinite apologies for the ever-long reply.

This also could mean a little riddle from Michael, since warlock means oath breaker is possible that one of us lovely villains we love to hate will change sides, thus breaking the oath of loyalty that bind him/her with the Dark Elder. Or possibly backwards?

Now who did we all read about in the Sorceress that has taken an oath? I haven't a clue to be honest. But I bet it would be a boy because if it were (and the feminine version of a warlock is a witch!) then the pattern would be BBGBBG (B=Boy G=Girl). But don't forget the oath breaker may be something like the warlock breaking some ones oath. For example he may break the Morrigans oath to Perenelle. So really it could be anyone.
Hope I helped!! biggrin.gif laugh.gif tongue.gif wink.gif flamelssecret/clap3.gif I am flamelssecret/crazy.gif

It is a way to consider but I find that a bit odd and confusing.

Why do they have so many names for thinks that look the same XD

Male witch = wizard = warlock = sorcerer. I believe i heard that a warlock is a kind of dark form of a wizard. So as Dee has to train a necromancer i believe it is Josh. because Josh doesn't trust Nicholas he would maybe go with Dee who would learn him necromancy in which he turnes into a Warlock.

That's just what i think smile.gif

Mr. Scott has already said that we will be seeing Billy the Kid much more in the books. Therefore, I think the Warlock may be Billy the Kid.

Why the Warlock and not the Necromancer?

I don't think Odin is the warlock because Flamel said that when Dee destroyed the Yggdrassil, the three connected shadowrealms were destroyed, which are Hekate's, Asgard, and Niflheim. Odin must've been residing in Asgard, therefore, I think he's already dead. I think the theory that Josh is the Warlock while Sophie is the Enchantress is the best one yet. Can't wait to read the next book!

i would think it would be a new character but they are going to be evil. because think if Flamel is the alchemist and Dee or Machiavelli is the magician, then Parry is the sorceress then that means if it fallows the pattern Good Evil Good Evil then the necromancer is a bad guy. do you flamelssecret/Agreed.gif ?

That is one of the current favourite theories of the forum wink.gif we know the necromancer will be male and that it's someone that we've already met, and if there is a pattern being built, a bad/evil necromancer would be the next step in the pattern (if that's the case!) but an interesting point was made, that is that the magic itself is not evil.. it is dictated by the intent of the user wink.gif

But we still don't know how "good" Flamel is. For all we know he's the lying bad guy and Dee is the good guy. but I doubt it
